New Poet Confronts Morality, Spirituality, Purpose, and the Role of Self in Global "Culture War"

SEATTLE, WA (PRWeb) February 9, 2007 -- Written in the spirit of Whitman and Emerson, Kyle B. Peterson's debut volume of poetry, Notes on Yellow Paper, offers a new perspective on the second-millennium American. Exploring the coming-of-age "crisis of conscience" experienced by the modern young adult, Peterson delves into awakening sexuality and the search for meaning both inside and outside of oneself in a corporate age.

Notes on Yellow Paper juxtaposes old-fashioned vocabulary and meter with modern expositions on college revelry, war, and identity in a global age. Even encased in modern housing, the poet's themes of morality and restlessness are timeless, as is his questioning the place of spirituality among an often-graphic physical existence.

Written in eight sections, Notes on Yellow Paper moves from "The Warrior Child" to "The Thinking Man," examining the inner world of doubt, the outer world of nature, and the relationship between the two. In many varied expressions, Peterson reveals that adaptation in all its many forms--from child to adult, from individual to collective, from human to divine--is not only necessary but inevitable.
