World of Jewish Launches Networking Site For Business, Politics, Dating, Jobs, Health and Culture
Jeruslaem, Israel (PRWEB) July 19, 2007 -- The World of Jewish website, a totally free Jewish social network, was launched officially last week from Israel. The new site already has thousands of users, showing clearly that it is filling a much needed niche in the world of the Jewish internet, especially that of Jewish dating and social networking.
The website offers its users everything from dating, a Jewish Yellow Pages and news to real estate, travel and political discussion forums. The new Jewish social networking site will be using conventional blogs, Wikis, personal and business profiles, photographs and uploaded videos for its members to create or join interest groups, collaborate on Jewish and Israeli projects, and create collections of files for Jewish education and work, advocacy and entertainment.
Also, the site is translated into five languages, English, Hebrew, Russian, Spanish and French. This, according to its creator, David Trombka, makes the membership "far more interactive and non-exclusive. We already have Jews from all the continents, excluding Antarctica. But I don't think there is even a Habad representation in Antarctica, so I guess we are alright ..."
Trombka explains: "As opposed to other networking sites which link members according to vague interest parameters, the World of Jewish produces very specific interest oriented networking based on simple and quick questionnaires for each interest. One can find exactly what he or she is looking for in sections such as politics, mysticism, cuisine, philosophy, education, history, science, medicine (including alternative medicine), literature, religion and more."
There is even a women's only section. Trombka stresses that the need for a women's only section stems primarily from the negative experiences women have had on the strictly dating sites. "Women need a kind of room unto themselves, but it is not only for dating. There is a wide range of issues that Jewish women confront daily from single parenthood, to religiosity, to dating and financial planning."
David Trombka, a native North American who now lives and works in Israel, created the World of Jewish website in order to offer the general Jewish community and especially the Jewish dating community with a safer and richer experience than currently exists on other sites. "As opposed to all the other Jewish dating sites, which are strictly one dimensional and open to lies and manipulations because of this single dimensionality, the World of Jewish is a much safer site. Women can find men in the education section, for example, and develop a conversation with them about education, or philosophy or mysticism or whatever other interests they have shown to have. In this way, the sexual tension is down and the honesty and depth are up."
This provides a safer and actually more meaningful Jewish social networking environment where people can really get to know each other before deciding to go on to the Jewish dating environment. Whereas once they would not enter Jewish dating sites, for whatever reason, they feel more comfortable joining the World of Jewish. Beyond that, it follows that the World of Jewish also provides a great platform for Jews not at all interested in dating, but rather in one of the many other interest sections provided. "Because of the many interests," Trombka states, "the World of Jewish provides a service for all Jewish people, married or otherwise, as opposed to the strictly singles population of the Jewish dating services."
The creator and investors of the World of Jewish have a profound interest in creating a site that is meaningful to the entire Jewish world and addresses much more than just social interests. As such, they have also linked in with a news service and maintain an "anti-Semitism watch" section as well. They hope that the site will provide a portal to all of Jewry, from secular to ultra-Orthodox, as the Jewish world and the State of Israel enter into the stormy weather of our times.
The owners of WOJ want to keep the site absolutely free. "Why pay the existing Jewish dating sites or any other similar site tens of dollars a month when they can have the exact same service plus so much more at World of Jewish?" asks Trombka. "Also, why just define everything for the members from the outset. Interaction is the name of the game these days and it is hoped that our members will define their needs and goals and contribute to our platform. We are very open to this."
The World of Jewish is linked to and is creating cooperation with such organizations as Infolive.tv, Kabbalah.tv, Yideoz.com, Nefesh b'nefesh and Taglit - birthright. As such, the World of Jewish is a constantly evolving site, new features or options being added all the time, and yet it has a very friendly user interface to allow its members to hone in on exactly it is that they want. The World of Jewish team believes that their placing faith in the people will be rewarded. They believe that people will sign up for free and that eventually they will host a large enough membership level so that anybody can pretty much find what they are looking for. Consistent with their philosophy, they leave it up to you, the user.

Can Catholic Values Survive in Hollywood? Two Biggest Obstacles – The Film Industry Culture & Friendly Fire
Hollywood is unlike anyplace else. It is the only town in which success is based on image and perception -- it is not about what is real; it is about what can be made to seem real. In a world where fantasy and illusion are the currency of fame and success, it is extremely difficult to stand up for individual values, especially those that contradict the business culture in which a person is trying to make a living. Catholics@Work's November 2006 breakfast meeting will feature Father Wilfred (Willy) Raymond, Director of Family Theater Productions who serves as a priest in the "Hollywood world", and is committed to provide support for all Catholics, young and old, who deal with the realities of the film industry.
